I write, produce, and mix all of my own compositions from start to finish. Lyrics mostly come to me in the middle of the night with no instrumental, just God and my thoughts. Making music is truly therapeutic. It’s my method of release at times when I feel like there’s no one to vent to and when I just want to reflect on my life in general, the good and the bad. Coming from a city with a rich live music culture (go-go, funk, and soul), I gravitate toward percussive grooves and chest rattling bass lines. These tools, along with melodic electric piano chords and soulful guitar riffs are staples in my arsenal when it comes to production.
I started making songs as early as the 4th grade and by age 12 I began making beats and recording music on my own. Growing up in DC and surrounding areas, I was influenced heavily by hip-hop from all parts of the country because we didn’t have a strong rap scene initially. I cite 2Pac, Scarface, Bone thugs-n-harmony, Nas, Devin the Dude, Bad Azz, and Juvenile among many others as my all-time favorites. Musically, I credit producers like Pimp C, DJ Battlecat, Timbaland, Mannie Fresh, Jermaine Dupri, Dr. Dre, and Bink! as some of the greatest to ever do it. Their DNA is prevalent in my music.
